One way you may not have considered that you can customize your engagement ring is with a ring guard or enhancer. You can add these bands in addition to or instead of a wedding band to create a truly personalized ring. In many cases, a ring guard or enhancer envelopes both sides of your engagement ring (and you can easily create a stack with a wedding band or anniversary bands!)

Ring Guard
Secures and protects an engagement ring, often providing structural support to prevent shifting, while also enhancing the engagement ring with addition detail and diamonds.

Ring Enhancer or Wrap
Enhances an engagement ring by creating a more elaborate look and adding diamonds or other gemstones.

You might choose a ring guard or enhancer in place of a wedding band, or you might select one to elevate your engagement ring, such as transform a solitaire into a custom sidestone or three stone piece (and optionally add a wedding band as well). You can also add an enhancer or guard as an anniversary band to celebrate your years together!

Ring guards can help shield an engagement ring from wear and tear (such as scratching or prong damage). And they can also help prevent an engagement ring from sliding or spinning.

How to Choose a Ring Guard or Enhancer

What design fits with your personal style? Do you prefer a vintage or modern design? Be sure to try the guard or enhancer with your engagement ring to ensure it enhances your engagement ring and doesn’t overpower it.

You might choose to match metals or mix them and you could choose to add diamonds or a different gemstone such as sapphire.

Try on the guard or enhancer with your engagement ring and ensure it feels comfortable and not too bulky.

Alternatives to a Ring Guard or Enhancer

If you don’t already have your engagement ring, you might consider a matching wedding set. You can also get a matching or complementary wedding band and can even stack several bands together!
