Okay, so we know that technology has had a serious effect on our love lives with the rise of online dating, sexting, and late-night ex-boyfriend Googling. (Come on, you know you do it, too.)
But while we thought that one of the biggest romantic milestones—the marriage proposal—had remain unfettered by technology, we were mistaken. According to a recent survey by Robbins Brothers, half of respondents said they’d be cool with an “electronic proposal.” Really?!
Obvi, we can’t judge a gal who’s cool with her guy asking for her hand in marriage via the Internet. But something about it just sounds less meaningful than the in-the-flesh, down-on-one-knee sitch we’ve long-considered to be the proposal standard.
Maybe we’re just living in the past? The survey also found that two-thirds of respondents would allow their proposal to be to be recorded and posted on YouTube , and one out of 10 people said they would actually propose via YouTube.
So, we gotta ask you: Would you prefer an old-fashioned marriage proposal or do you think it’s high time engagements went modern?
