When it comes to relationships, we always hear about the marriage proposal, the engagement ring, and all the important details that surround this special moment, but what about all the other relationship milestones that occur? You know, the promising conversation a couple has to discuss future plans to be together forever. Or perhaps the first (or tenth!) marriage anniversary the pair celebrates. And of course we can’t forget about the couple’s growing family in the form of wonderful offspring. Childbirth is the perfect occasion to bestow a PUSH gift (hint, hint) on mom. Let’s take a deeper look….
NOW TRENDING: Jewelry for every relationship milestone
The Promise Ring – You may have thought that this ring was a thing of the past, but it most definitely is not! The promise ring is still popular amongst teens and young adults who want to show their intention of marriage, even if it’s a few years down the road.
The “Will You” Ring – This is one of the hottest new trends on the jewelry scene. Essentially, this ring is a very inexpensive band (typically $50-$300) that can be custom engraved with any message. Some choose to use a simple solitaire. This ring is presented at the proposal when the partner plans to take the other partner shopping for the perfect engagement ring. Despite the price, it’s still a piece that is cherished as a memory.
The Engagement Ring – We’re all familiar with this one! From a classic diamond rock to a color gemstone to a beautiful, detailed band – the engagement ring comes in many shapes and designs to match one’s personal style.
The Anniversary Band(s) – For milestone anniversaries (or even the in-between ones), it’s nice to add a new band to the wedding ring, and eventually create a stylish stack of rings. This trend is a beautiful way to update your look on a budget. Anniversary bands can be done in color gemstones or traditional diamonds.
The 10 Year Anniversary Upgrade – 10 years seems to be the major milestone when many couples decide to up the ante on the initial diamond. Sometimes, this means trading in the original diamond for a larger diamond, or buying a new ring altogether and saving the original diamond for a future child or an heirloom ring. On average, many couples start with a .75 – 1-carat diamond, and the most common 10-year upgrade is just about 2 carats.
The Mother’s Ring – For those women who decide to become moms, a mother’s ring is a common way to celebrate motherhood. Consider adding each child’s birthstone in a new ring, typically worn on the right hand. Another variation is the mother’s necklace.
The Heirloom Ring – Later in life, many couples take past gemstones and diamonds from other family members, or perhaps their original diamonds, and create an heirloom ring which would be something for relatives to pass down from generation to generation.
