How to Celebrate Your First Wedding Anniversary

So you have made it…The 1st year of wedded bliss…Yay you! You have surpassed the moving in together, a new life schedule and how to cohabitate, and now it’s time to celebrate.

With the change in times we have gone from the traditional gifts of Paper to more modern with a Clock. But one might wonder, what are other ways to celebrate your special day, your wedding anniversary? Here are a few ideas that I’ve found:

wedding-cakeEat the top layer of your wedding cake
While most think that eating a year-old cake is not all that romantic, most bakeries can recreate your top layer for a low cost for you to celebrate your special day.

Purchase tickets for a movie, sports event, concert, or theatre etc. to attend together
Make your anniversary the ultimate date night. Spending this time with each other is a good way to celebrate common interests and your love for each other.

Plan a dinner at a special restaurant
This is a good one for me and my husband because we are self-proclaimed foodies and we love to discover new places to dine. To add a special spark, order champagne to toast to many more years together!

Plan a trip together
Traditionally most weddings are on a Saturday which means your 1st anniversary is likely to fall on a Sunday. A long weekend is the way to go for a romantic getaway.

Plan a romantic picnic
If you can recreate items from your wedding reception (dinner, candy bar, etc…), use them. It’s a great way to remember the day.

Surprise your spouse
A fun idea is to have a paper treasure hunt for your spouse. Leave clues throughout the house that eventually lead to a romantic location.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure to remember that the wedding is for one day but the marriage is for a lifetime.

Happy 1st Anniversary My Love!
