The holidays are a time for gathering with friends and family but they’re also an ideal opportunity for romantic holiday dates. This season is all about joy, gratitude and coziness—all of which can translate into filling your union with happiness and love. Take full advantage of this feel-good time of year with our fun holiday date ideas that will enliven your relationship. Happy holidays, indeed!

Going Ice-Skating
You don’t have to be athletic to go ice-skating—in fact, it’s probably more fun if you’re a total novice. Trying something new with your partner will infuse some spontaneity and fun into your union, allowing you to create new memories to bond over. You could also consider going cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or sledding, depending on the weather and availability in your area.

Taking a Walk with Hot Chocolate
Keep it simple by taking a stroll to your local coffee shop and grabbing two mugs of steaming hot chocolate (with extra whip cream, if you please!). Walk around your town or neighborhood taking in the changing colors and sights of the season, as well as the holiday décor and house lights as you go along. Taking a walk with your partner is a great opportunity to talk and connect, allowing you a break from your phones and obligations—and it helps you get some exercise, too.

Toy Shopping for Kids in Need
Many offices sponsor families in need for the holidays or at least have a Salvation Army Angel Tree bin for gathering new toys. Get with your partner and head to your local toy store to pick out some fun items for kids in need. Shopping together will give you both a dose of nostalgia for the beloved games and toys you each played with as a kid, plus you’ll feel good by doing good together.

Doing Your Holiday Baking Together
Taking on a task together is a fun way to flex your collaboration muscle and work as a team. Decorate holiday cookies, make challah or create a gingerbread house—whatever baking project speaks to you. You can enjoy the spoils of your labor yourselves or create these treats for family, friends or colleagues.

Searching for the Ugliest Holiday Sweater
Chances are that you have an opportunity to wear a hideous holiday sweater this season, whether it’s to a themed party or because you think it’s fun to don one at holiday gatherings. Turn the task of finding said sweater into an exciting scavenger hunt by hitting up local thrift stores and scouring the racks together. You’ll crack up over unexpectedly crazy finds (and you may even score some awesome stuff, too). Make it a game—whoever finds the ugliest sweater wins…and treats the other to dinner.

Hosting a Festivity for Friends
Date nights don’t have to be exclusive to just you and your partner. Share your love for the season with those who mean the most to you. Planning and hosting a holiday get-together for your pals will allow you to strengthen your partnership skills—and spend time with people you love, too. Organize a potluck, a cookie exchange or a cocktail party in your home and spread the joy of the holidays with a White Elephant or game night.
