Five Festive Holiday Party Ideas for Couples

1) Party Like a Rock Star. Robbins Brothers suggests you celebrate the season with your significant other like a rock star! Create a holiday décor that will make guests feel a part of the glamorous life. Arrange a super simple, mega-wow factor centerpiece for attendees to enjoy, and play the most popular rock ‘n roll Christmas songs including Winter Wonderland by Darlene Love, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by U2 and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee. Take it a step further and dress in your favorite rock-star attire and play Guitar Hero. ‘Tis the season to shine!

2) Holiday Sweater Soiree. Dig out your most ‘festive’ Christmas sweater in your closet (notice we did not use the word ‘ugly’—we’re switching it up a bit), and get ready to enjoy the evening with your best couple-friends. Play fun games, share favorite holiday traditions and take lots of pictures to show off those bold, bright knitted patterns. If you’re feeling obligated to wear that sweater you got as a gift, now’s the time to flaunt it!

(Obviously, the whole point of the party is to showcase a totally tacky sweater, but that doesn’t mean the rest of your outfit has to be ugly! Ladies, pair it with some cute leggings or jeans and boots, plus festive earrings and you’re good to go.)

3) Creative Cooking Party. Make it a Couples’ Night In by gathering up your closest friends and hosting a holiday cookout! Put a modern twist on it and let the men make the main dishes (encourage your guy to whip up his famous dirty rice dish), while the women bring the wine. This is a great way to strengthen relationship skills too since interactive cooking parties make wonderful teambuilding events. (Let us know how it goes!)

Eat, Drink, Sing & Be Merry

4) Play Dress Up. Dressing up is so much fun especially if you do it as a pair. Whether it’s a Santa costume, electric elf, candy cane or gingerbread man, tell your sweetie it’s all about role playing tonight! Let your hair down and enjoy some quality time with friends. A game of charades would be fun too with all the crazy costumes everyone is wearing. And after the party…well, we’ll let you decide how to end the night.

5) Caroling Karaoke Party. Plan an evening with friends to sing your favorite holiday songs until your hearts are merry. Drink some egg nog, with a little brandy if you’d like, and serenade each other to romantic tunes including Let It Snow, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, and then get fun and flirty with Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls.
