The holidays have come and gone but the excitement lingers on. It’s still a joyous time to marry! A Winter Bride can use the past holiday season to her advantage by following a few pieces of advice.
5 Tips to Saying “I Do” During the Wonderful Winter Season
1. Continue the Christmas Theme: Yay or Nay? Picture a cake shaped like a pile of presents or personalized ornaments as Wedding favors…the possibilities are endless with this type of themed Wedding! That said, if this idea isn’t for you, please don’t choose red in your color scheme. ANY hint of red will shout “Christmas” just like royal blue and silver say “Hanukkah.”
2. Venue Decorations: Use It or Lose It. Most hotels put their best foot forward this time of year and they look fabulous. As a Bride, inquire ahead as to the venue’s standard decorations so you can plan accordingly. If the decor conflicts with your theme, you can request it be removed from the Wedding space. If you can use the venue’s decor to your advantage, it will enhance the beauty of your day! At the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica, they dress their 80-foot tall Moreton Bay Fig Tree with gorgeous lights during the holidays. My clients just married in front of the Fig Tree — that’s thousands of decorations…free to them!
3. Baby, It’s Cold Outside. An important objective in this Winter Season is keeping your guests cozy and comfortable. If your guests will be outdoors for Ceremony or Cocktail Hour, rent plenty of heat lamps and consider lounge furniture with fire pits for extra pizzazz. If the entire event is outside, invest in a tent with heaters (this eliminates the concern for possible rain too!). Another way to warm up your guests is through their taste buds! Some delicious ideas: greet guests with warm apple cider pre-ceremony, opt for soup instead of salad with dinner, and top off the night with hot cocoa and churros.
4. Strike Up the Romance! Simply put, nothing speaks romance at Winter Weddings like fire places and LOTS of candles. Consider walking down a candlelit aisle or marrying in front of a fireplace adorned with candlelight. You can transform any indoor space with these simple tricks!
5. Forget the halls; Deck yourself! A little extra bling never hurt anyone. When everything is “merry and bright,” I suggest you step it up a notch in the “sparkle” department. Treat yourself: indulge in these dazzling shoes from Jimmy Choo!
