How to Choose & Style Bangle Bracelets

A bangle is one of the easiest ways to add polish to any look, from a weekday desk to a black-tie table. Slim and sculptural, bangles slide on, stack up, and layer effortlessly, and we carry them in a wide range of metals, colors, and diamond accents so you can build a look that is entirely your own.
Whether you are drawn to a single sleek band or a wrist full of mixed metals, this guide walks through the different bangle styles, how to stack them, how to find your size, and where to start when you are ready to explore our bracelet collection.

What’s the Difference Between a Bangle and a Bracelet?
Every bangle is a bracelet, but not every bracelet is a bangle. A bangle holds its shape, whether it is rigid or flexible, while a general bracelet tends to drape with the wrist. Here are the styles you will see most often:
- Hinge bangles open on a hinge and close with a clasp, so they slip on easily and stay put. Some add a three-step locking mechanism for extra security.
- Flexi-bangles hide an interior steel wire that keeps the round shape while flexing gently over your hand.
- Rigid bangles are a solid, closed circle, oval, or square that you slide your hand through.
- Cuffs are open-ended bangles with a gap that lets you slip them onto your wrist.

From high-polish gold to diamond-set designs, our bangle collections span classic and modern styles you can wear on their own or layer together.
How to Style a Bangle Stack
01
MIX YOUR METALS
White, yellow, and rose gold look striking side by side. Combining metals is one of the easiest ways to make a stack feel personal and modern.
02
PLAY WITH WIDTHS
Pair a bold, wide bangle with a few delicate bands, or group several thin bangles together for a light, layered effect.
03
ADD SPARKLE
Work in a diamond bangle or two. A little glimmer catches the light and lifts the whole stack from casual to occasion-ready.
There is no strict limit on numbers. Stack as many as feel comfortable, keep them all on one wrist, or split them across both for an easy, asymmetrical look. The best stack is the one that feels like you.

Finding Your Bangle Size
Because a bangle slides over your hand rather than fastening around your wrist, fit matters more than it does with a clasped bracelet. Here is how to find yours.
Use a flexible measuring tape, like a tailor’s tape, to measure around your wrist just above the wrist bone. If you do not have one, you can find one online and print it, or wrap a strip of paper around your wrist and measure it against a ruler.
Knowing your wrist measurement tells you how a bangle will sit. A bangle roughly half an inch to an inch larger in diameter than your wrist is usually the most comfortable. Many designers offer small, medium, and large sizing, and you are always welcome to try styles on at any of our showrooms until you find your perfect fit.
If a bangle has a hinge or an opening, you can simply place it over your wrist and close it.

For a solid bangle with no opening, measure your hand as well. Wrap the tape around your knuckles with your thumb folded into your palm, the shape your hand makes as you slide a bangle on. That measurement is the widest point the bangle needs to clear.
Our standard Memoire bangles fit wrists from about 6.75 to 7.5 inches, and our master jeweler can special order smaller or larger sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a bangle and a cuff?
A cuff is a type of bangle. Where most bangles form a complete circle, a cuff has an open end with a small gap, so you slip it onto your wrist from the side rather than sliding it over your hand.
How many bangles should I stack together?
There is no strict number. Some guests love a single statement bangle, while others build a full stack of mixed metals and widths. As long as your stack feels comfortable on your wrist, you have not added too many.
How do I find my bangle size?
Measure around your wrist just above the wrist bone with a flexible tape. For a solid bangle with no opening, also measure around your knuckles with your thumb tucked in, since the bangle has to clear the widest part of your hand. A bangle about half an inch to an inch larger than your wrist is usually the most comfortable.
Can I get a bangle custom-sized?
Yes. Many of our designer bangles come in multiple sizes, and our in-house master jeweler can special order smaller or larger sizes or adjust a piece for the right fit.
Do you offer both lab-grown and natural diamond bangles?
We do. We carry both lab-grown and natural diamond bangles, and our jewelry consultants can walk you through the differences so you can choose the option that fits your style and budget.
How do I care for a diamond bangle?
Clean it gently with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush, and store it separately so it does not scratch other pieces. You can also bring it to any of our showrooms for complimentary cleaning and inspection to keep the diamonds bright and the clasp secure.
Can I see bangles in person before buying?
Absolutely, and we encourage it. Visit us at any of our showrooms across California, Arizona, Texas, and Washington to try on styles, compare metals, and get personalized recommendations from our consultants.
