Simple & Sweet Ways To Say I Love You

Being romantic isn’t just about grand gestures and wild proclamations of love—it’s more about the seemingly small, everyday acts that show your partner how much you care.

While everyone has different ways of showing love and, therefore, everyone has different opinions on what makes them feel loved, it’s safe to say that certain actions are pretty universal when it comes to displays of affection and loving gestures. It’s always the perfect time to add some more romance into your routine.

Not sure exactly where to start? Try these five easy and oh-so-sweet ways to show your main squeeze how much you care. Do them enough and they’ll be second nature.

Write a Love Note
You don’t need to be Shakespeare to woo your partner. If epic poetry isn’t exactly your thing, simply write an encouraging, loving, or sexy message on a Post-It note and stick it where your beloved will be sure to find it. He or she will be smiling all day with your sweet words in mind.

Sneak an Edible Surprise
The next time you’re grocery shopping or picking up food for yourself, surprise your partner with one of his or her favorite items, like a candy bar she always craves, a smoothie he can enjoy after his morning workout, or a bottle of wine you can relish together. The stomach is certainly the way to most men’s—and women’s—hearts, after all.

Do Something Unprompted
For many women, there are few things sexier than seeing their men wash dishes or take out the trash without her having to ask. But it goes both ways: Ladies and gents can make their partners feel taken care of by performing a household task the other one typically does. Even simply programming the coffee maker the night before qualifies as a romantic gesture.

Pamper Your Partner
Next time you’re binge-watching your favorite series on Netflix, give your partner a foot massage or rub your fingers through his or her hair. You’ll take a relaxing ritual to a whole new level and your partner will feel rejuvenated as a result.

Set the Mood
After a long day at work, would it be nice to come home to a soothing environment? If you get home before your partner does, quickly straighten up your main room, toss a throw blanket on the couch, light some candles (and maybe the fire), and turn on some soothing tunes. Your guy or gal will feel like they’ve stepped into an oasis—and you’ll be the best part of the mirage for making it happen.
