Are you planning summer travel? If so, you’ll likely leave your expensive jewelry behind. With burglaries on the rise, it is essential to hide your treasured jewels in a place no one would think to look. Being that not everyone has access to a security safe or safety deposit box, your best bet is to store your valuables in an unthinkable location. Below you will find a few not-so-common areas for peace of mind this season.
1. With Household Cleaning Supplies
Empty buckets of antibacterial wipes or dishwasher pod bags make for a great disguise. If you have a recycle bin nearby, you can store your items in a protected container at the bottom of the canister.
2. Boxed in the Garage
If a burglar walked into your house, I’m 99% certain that the last thing he’d grab is a box labeled, “holiday décor,” or “bathroom stuff.” If you have a book safe, set your items in that and place into the box labeled “heavy old books,” and you’re golden.
3. In Your Pantry
Cereal boxes, potato chip bags (cleaned, of course), really any food item large enough to store all your possessions. You can even split them up and place in various snack storage for extra security.
4. Children’s Toy Area
Create a velcro open area in an old stuffed animal or inside a teapot set. Just be sure you inform your family members to ensure the kids do not play with the items, or they get tossed.
5. Laundry Room
At the bottom of the hamper, folded in between towels or inside a detergent container are all smart options. People don’t ever think to look in a room where you wash your laundry.
