Spring break has long been associated with young groups of friends traveling to get their party on. But! I’d argue that it’s actually the perfect time of the year to get away with your better half. Whether you opt for a quick staycation at a fun hotel right in town or choose to jet set further away, this time of year is perfect for resetting your routine and escaping the stress of everyday life together. Here’s why I think going on spring break with your partner is oh-so-necessary.
You Can Escape the Cold
Most of us are spending our working hours wrapped in blankets at our desks (can’t just be me!) and fast-walking to our means of transport at the end of the day to avoid the winter chill. If you’re able to get in a trip away from the freezing temps, you’ll at least get a brief respite from having to bundle up in layer after layer. (And wearing fewer clothes is always good for your relationship, amiright?) Catch some rays and soak up the sun together. All that vitamin D will be rejuvenating for your bodies and for your bond.
You Can Take a Much-Needed Break from the News
Let’s be honest, between the election and the coronavirus, we’re probably all in need of some time away from the constant news alerts and updates. Getting away right now means that you can turn off the TV, take some time away from your smartphone and keep yourself from getting overloaded with nerve-wracking information. Of course, no one wants to keep their head in the sand if there are important updates to be read, but taking a brief step away from the endless news cycle definitely can’t hurt.
You Can Reconnect Post-Winter
It’s no secret that the beginning of the year can be just a tad bit stressful. Workloads often ramp up in the first quarter post-holiday season, and the uptick in colds and other sicknesses going around can take its toll if either of you happened to catch a bug. Taking a break this time of year can give you both a necessary mental reset and help you reconnect if you’ve been extra busy clocking in extra office hours—or stuck in bed sniffling. Having a no-distractions vacation lets you focus on something (someone!) far more important: your awesome partner.
You Can Get a Trip in Before Summer
Summer travel is often more crowded and more expensive. It’s the time of year when everyone plans their family vacations, meaning that resorts and beaches will be packed with people of all ages trying to get some rest and relaxation. (Not exactly a recipe for achieving either of those, in my humble opinion.) When you take a pre-summer trip, you can enjoy fewer lines, less travel hassle and more privacy wherever you go. Those are the ideal ingredients for a romantic, laid back vacay.
