A pavé setting technique features stones (typically diamonds, but can be done with any stone) that are set low and spaced close together. This arrangement “paves” the surface with gemstones. This technique can be used a number of ways such as in a halo setting or a pavé diamond band, or as a collection of diamonds in a necklace or earrings.
Run your fingers over the diamonds in a pavé setting to determine how smooth it is. Generally, the less variation you feel, the higher the quality.
Pavé Diamond Engagement Rings and Wedding Bands
A pavé band consists of diamond sidestones. An engagement ring with a pavé band adds sparkle to your engagement ring while allowing your center stone to shine.
You can also add pavé diamonds to your ring with a halo setting or in your wedding band. The rings below include pavé wedding bands and an engagement ring with a pavé band and a pavé double halo setting.

You can choose either a pavé or micro pavé band depending on whether you want larger sidestone diamonds or a larger number of small diamonds for heightened sparkle.
A number of different pavé settings are available. For instance, below is a French pavé setting:
A french pavé setting is cut into v-shaped grooves in the ring band, which reduces the appearance of the metal and exposes the diamonds to more light, enhancing their shine.
Below is a micro pavé setting:
A micro pavé setting holds numerous small diamonds, maximizing sparkle.
Pavé Diamond Necklaces and Bracelets
A pavé diamond necklace or bracelet brings together several diamonds in a pavé setting for focus pieces with beautiful brilliance.
Below are examples of Shy jewelry that features the pavé setting technique. Shy pavé settings styles are very smooth, which indicates high quality. A smooth setting ensures your jewelry won’t catch on delicate clothing (such as tights or a sweater).
