Heart to Heart with Man Registry’s Happy Groom

One of my favorite blogs comes from The Man Registry. I check it weekly as it helps me understand men and what the heck they’re thinking, because let me admit to you, sometimes I’m just clueless! Often I wonder if the marriage proposal is equally as important to them as it is to us. Or why some men are so afraid of commitment? In a recent chat, our friend Chris Easter from The Man Registry describes his own proposal and offers a little advice to men who want to RUN from the alter. (Ahhh hmmm—clearing my throat–listen up fellas!)

Relationship Status? Happily Married

When did you know she was ‘the one’? Has to be when I discovered our mutual love of country music. We both attended a liberal arts college…so country fans were few and far between.

How did you propose marriage? Our ideal date had always been to take her red truck out into the country for a picnic. For the proposal, I surprised her with a lakefront picnic complete with champagne and a country mix. Of course, it all took place in the bed of a red pickup. It was a fairly secluded area, but we were able to find a jogger to snap a photo. Looking back, he was actually kind of creepy. Oh well!

When it came to wedding planning were you a hands-on or hands-off groom? I was definitely a hands-on groom. I wanted to leave my mark on the wedding day and did so by taking an active role in the planning and rehearsal dinner, interviewing the vendors and music selection. The experience was partially responsible for the creation of The Man Registry.

Describe the wedding day? We were married in her hometown of Kansas City. It rained, but we made the most of it. The day went by so fast–but I made a point to stop and take in all of the perfect details. It truly was a perfect day that I’ll never forget.

Any advice for commitment phobic guys who are scared to make the next move? I’m an avid fisherman, so I’ll offer advice that I learned out on the lake. Don’t fart around and let the big one off your line. If you do, there’s a chance you’ll never hook it/her again.
