Today is the official start of summer, and that means wedding season is about to kick into high gear. If you relate more to “Annie” (Kristin Wiig’s character in the hilarious movie Bridesmaids) than to newlywed princess bride Kate Middleton, read on for the best places to find your very own Mr. Right:
- Workplace: according to the website HappyWorker, 25% of workplace romances lead to marriage Just be sure your intended future husband isn’t already married. If you work for any government official, I recommend you just skip #1 and see the rest of the list.
- Grocery Store: you’ve seen it in work in sitcoms, why not try it at your local Whole Foods, Vons or Trader Joe’s? If you see a good looking guy who is also looking for organic soy milk on a Friday night at 8 pm, chances are good that he takes care of himself and he’s single.
- Online Dating Site: I have friends who love these sites, and I have friends who hate these sites. Key is to finding the site that best fits your specific needs. Match.com and eHarmony.com both have success stories. It’s up to you to be honest and up front about what you want, and then be open to dating a guy who might not be a perfect fit – but could turn out to be the man of your dreams.
- Place of Worship: If you’re a regular church, synagogue or mosque attendee, your faith is an important part of your life that shouldn’t be overlooked when dating. (If you’re a new Catholic and think that the priest has a crush on you, keep in mind that he’s taken a vow of celibacy and is not allowed to get married.)
- Gym/Health Club: Zumba on Monday, spinning on Tuesday, kick-boxing on Wednesday, strength training Thursday and step classes on Friday. And that’s just your after-work schedule. If you’re this dedicated to staying in shape, an equally fit obsessed guy is checking you out in the 5 am boot camp sessions. Not that either of you has time to date though.
- Coffee House: Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Dunkin’ Donuts, Peets, 7-11 Whether you’re into tall skinny lattes or all about the pure large black coffee with simple half-and-half, your consistent Monday through Friday caffeine habit and sticking with the same establishment near your home or workplace should put you in touch with other like-minded coffee-holics.
- Las Vegas: According to LoveTrekker, you’ll find more single men per square mile in this southern Nevada city known more for casinos. Forget the fact that if he has a house it likely is underwater, and the unemployment rate is a staggering 12.1% . If Mr. Right is in Vegas you can get your marriage license in 15 – 30 minutes.
