10 Ways To Add Color To Your Wedding Day

While there are few things far romantic than an all-white wedding, punching up your décor with pops of color can make your celebration all the more fun. From attire to décor, you can incorporate your favorite shades into all aspects of your big day to create a stylish event that really reflects you and your beloved.

Here are 10 easy ways to do it.

1. Her dress – If you’ve always had your heart set on a white wedding gown, go for it! But if you’re willing to think beyond the customary dress, you can add some color to your wedding day by wearing a pink, blue or even patterned gown instead. This day is all about you and showcasing your personality and style. Whatever you feel gorgeous in is what you should wear.
2. Her shoes – To keep things traditional, with a little bit of fun, wear some colorful shoes under your white dress. Blue is a favorite color, since the shoes can become your “something blue,” but you can choose any shoes that make you happy. The best part is that you’ll be able to wear them after the wedding, too.
3. His accessories – Guys, for the most part, you’ll want to wear black, gray, navy or khaki for your suit. (Something neutral.) But you can add a pop of color with a fun tie, pocket square or socks to make a statement. This can take the seriousness off your overall look and will add some nice contrast if you’re wearing a dark color.
4. Your attendants – Use your ladies’ and gents’ attire to brighten up your celebration. Even if you’d like them to wear a neutral, like black or navy, you can add colorful belts, shoes, socks or ties to make their wear more fun.
5. Keepsake jewelry – Rubies, emeralds and sapphires—oh my! Use your birthstones as a guide to create a perfect piece of keepsake jewelry that can represent your union. (Again, if you choose a blue-hued stone, this item could be your “something blue.”)

An eye-catching backdrop – While a traditional altar is still the gold standard for ceremonies, you can get creative by getting hitched in front of a bold mural or by making a colorful backdrop with ribbons, flowers, crepe paper—you name it. If you wear the standard white dress and black suit, you will create an amazing contrast for photos.
7. Fun processional details – Have your guests toss colorful confetti or wave festive streamers as you two make your way back down the aisle at the end of your ceremony. This will create an amazing look for your photos, plus add a little something extra to your big day.
8. Creative lighting – Uplighting can change the vibe of an event space, creating a more romantic vibe or setting the mood for the perfect dance party. Use lighting to help guide the ambiance you’d like to set.
9. Colorful flowers – From the bridal bouquet to the centerpieces, florals are a great way to add natural colors. Especially if you choose to keep everything else neutral, colorful blooms will really pop—especially in pictures.
10. The table linens – Patterned, colorful linen—stripes, chevron, floral, you name it!—can truly make a statement. Even just a pretty napkin can take your tablescape up a notch and add something extra to each place setting, making the overall look appear more curated and thoughtful.
