20 Romantic Summer Activities To Try ASAP

They don’t call it summer lovin’ for nothing—the warmest months of the year are the ideal time to heat things up in your relationship. Grab your sweetie and use this list to help your love blossom all season long.

  1. Get pampered together at your local day spa—opt for a couples’ massage and then hit the hot tub to up the romance factor.
  2. Try out Blue Apron or another meal delivery service and cook a gourmet meal at home—no stellar kitchen skills required.
  3. Grab a day pass for your local hotel pool (or really go for it and spring for a cabana). Spend the day relaxing like royalty.
  4. Beat the heat with a matinee movie date. Don’t forget the extra large tub of popcorn!
  5. Take a cooking class—go traditional with a full meal class or learn how to make a specific type of cuisine, whip up a specific type of dessert, or check out some other niche gourmet course.
  6. Hit the batting cages and see who’s better at knocking a fastball out of the park.
  7. Visit a local arcade and challenge each other to win the most tickets.
  8. Go ice-skating—this romantic winter activity is even more fun in the summer when the outside temperatures rise.
  9. Commit to trying new places: Rather than hit your old stomping grounds for date night, try to choose bars and restaurants you’ve never been before so you can experience them together for the first time.
  10. Go dancing. Either take a class (like salsa or swing!) or hit your local club and bust a move.
  11. Play games. Dust off your favorite board games and make a night out of seeing who has better chess, checkers or Jenga skills.
  12. Dine on cheap pizza and beer at your local bowling alley or pool hall then face off for a few games.
  13. Go on a hike with a packed picnic for two. Bonus points if you can catch the sunset (or sunrise!).
  14. Take a quick weekend trip to a close-by city. You won’t waste time traveling there and you can explore a fun new place together.
  15. See a show, whether it’s a play, an opera or a concert for an artistic experience you’ll never forget.
  16. Get physical by taking a yoga class or even training for a marathon. Those endorphins will do your body—and your relationship—good.
  17. Go wine or beer tasting so you can learn to appreciate those grapes (or hops) while you imbibe.
  18. Check out an open mic night and have a blast cheering on local talent.
  19. Channel your younger selves with a visit to a theme park. Your kid-like enthusiasm will breathe new life into your bond.
  20. Build a bonfire on the beach, in your backyard or wherever is legal near you. Toast marshmallows and cuddle under a blanket for extra romantic brownie points.
