A Military Veteran’s Special Holiday Proposal

We’re sending the warmest congratulations to our newly engaged couple Joe Gracia and Nicole Stuller of Bonita, CA! In a special holiday proposal, Joe presents Nicole with the surprise of a lifetime on the popular talk show about health, The Doctors.

Joe and Nicole’s Love Story (in his words):

How did you and Nicole meet? She had a BBQ at her home and I was invited through another service member friend of mine. I met her one year after my injury.

What makes your relationship unique? Nicole has said from the moment we met she forgot I was missing a leg & in a wheelchair. We had an instant connection. And to this day she still makes me feel that way. I don’t feel weak or less than the man I was when I was in the military.

What attracts you to her? First of all, the love she has for me, my family, her family and people in general. The effort she puts into making people feel at home & welcomed like my military brothers some of which are wounded as well. She has a huge heart & is extremely gorgeous lol.

How has Nicole changed your life?  She has brought a sense of calm & security to my life especially around new people and in group settings. She has been there for me in dealing with the death of my friend Mykel Miller who died in my Humvee when I was crying & angry. She has unconditional love for me and shows it everyday and she deals with my physical and mental issues (traumatic brain injury) without judgement. From small things like helping me remember to take my medications to big things like helping me get out of the car without my leg and helping me transfer to the shower.
