Miramar Marine Surprises UC San Diego Girlfriend with Romantic Marriage Proposal At Ball Gown Giveaway

Los Angeles, CA—September 24, 2012—Robbins Brothers and Marine Corps Community Services hosted a contest in which they asked Marines at Miramar and Camp Pendleton to share their love story for a chance to win a $2,000 gift certificate from Robbins Brothers for the engagement ring, plus the opportunity to propose marriage at the Ball Gown Giveaway held yesterday at The Officer’s Club.

The winner, Sergeant Arthur Rabago from MCAS Miramar, works in the supply warehouse and ensures that Marines receive necessary equipment when going into the field for training operations as well as overseas deployment. Serving as a protector and provider in his professional life, Sgt. Rabago exercises the same qualities in his personal life. He submitted a heartfelt love story about an online match made in heaven when meeting girlfriend Shayna Bradley, a UCSD student with a double major in political science and dance, via an Internet dating site. He wrote: “She’s worked very hard to overcome many obstacles including a rough upbringing. Since she’s never been able to count on anyone to be there for her, I want the opportunity to be her rock. This ring will enable me to give her an incredible surprise she truly deserves and will serve as a symbol of the love we share. I can’t wait to ask her to be my wife!”

Yesterday in front of hundreds of military couples, family and friends, Sgt. Rabago shocked Shayna with a loving marriage proposal onstage and a beautiful Verragio designer engagement ring from Robbins Brothers’ San Diego store. Surprised, tearful and happy, Shayna said “yes!”
