As a Robbins Brothers employee who used to work directly with guests in the store, I’ve seen my share of personalized engagement rings. I realize it’s the little additions that make the biggest impact. From gemstone color enhancements to mixing metals, there is no limit to how you can make an engagement ring uniquely yours. Below are some of our favorite customization stories from our awesome RB customers.
Personal Touch
Engrave a little love note inside the ring.
Derick and Lee are two peas in a pod. After their first encounter at Downtown Disney, they knew that they’d live happily ever after. After 4 years of dating, Derick proposed during the fireworks show in front of Disney’s magical castle. Without hesitation, Lee leaped into his arms and screamed, “Yes” at the top of his lungs. To Lee’s surprise, Derick had engraved sapphire Mickey Mouse inside of the ring to represent their September anniversary, along with the words, “I promise” – an inside joke between the two.
Size Does Matter
Pick a diamond weight that represents a significant date in your relationship.
When Stan serenaded Janelle at a local cafe on the KTLA Morning News, we thought it couldn’t get any better. That is until he shared the inspiration behind his lovely ring choice. He chose a sparkly 1.06ct round brilliant diamond to represent their anniversary date, January 6th. Yes, we know- super sweet.
I Love You To the Moon and Back
Use a metal type or color to symbolize your love.
“For as many stars that are in the sky, that is how many memories I want to create with you.” Will selected a meteorite and black diamond band from Lashbrook which exemplifies his out of this world love for Marc. Of course, Marc happily accepted without ANY hesitation. They are over the moon and currently wed.
DAD, A Daughter’s First Love
Add a loved one’s birthstone to the engagement ring or wedding band.
One week before Doug planned to ask for Courtney’s hand, her father passed. Knowing how important it was to have him be a part of their forever, he added an Alexandrite (her father’s birthstone) to her setting. And if that wasn’t enough, the Big Sky Country native also set a Montana blue sapphire as the center stone to signify his upbringing.
A Treasured Heirloom
Incorporate an inherited element into the bridal set.
After a private seaplane tour of the San Juan Islands, Sean presented Kat with a monogrammed float key chain and, wait for it… a pear diamond engagement ring with her great grandmother’s wedding band attached. What a beautiful way to commemorate her family’s legacy.
