Part of me feels really bad for Dallas Cowboy Roy Williams whose Valentine’s Day marriage proposal to girlfriend Brooke Daniels was rejected. But the other part thinks he should have known better. After all, he chose to mail his marriage proposal, engagement ring worth $80,000 included. That’s why it’s so important to consult with others when planning to pop the big question. It’s definitely a nervous, anxious moment for guys but with a little guidance he’ll get it right and she’ll say YES. We promise!

It’s always such an exciting time when we hear of a couple’s engagement. It’s even more exciting to find out their engagement ring was created by one of our amazing designers. Reality star Kristin Cavallari from The Hills & Laguna Beach was recently engaged to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. Jay surprised Kristin with a romantic marriage proposal during their getaway in Cabo San Lucas, featuring a stunning 5.2 carat A. Jaffe design. Way to go, Jay! The couple has discussed getting married in Chicago, but the nuptials might have to wait until next Spring due to football season.

Here’s one of my personal favs from A. Jaffe! The crisscrossing bands covered with 48 prong-set round diamonds take the design to the next level. I’m in love with it.

It’s a holiday season of love! Congrats to Cincinnati Bengal Chad Ochocinco who, after four months of dating, proposed to “Basketball Wives” reality TV star Evelyn Lozada with a 10-carat engagement ring. Now that’s what we call “bling bling.” The couple has no plans to marry at this time and would like to enjoy their engagement for a while.

Though there have been quite a few celebrity breakups these past few months, I’m happy to report that love is still in the air. Just ask the newly engaged baseball player Brad Penny and Dancing with the Stars hottie Karina Smirnoff. The two got engaged last month and are looking forward to a bright future together. “He got down on one knee and he opened the box and I said ‘Thank you’, shares Smirnoff who has been linked in the past to my other favorite DWTS professional, Maxim Chernovsky (ooooh that man is fine!). Another Los Angeles Laker prepares to tie the knot! Congrats to the newly engaged Sasha Vujacic 26 and tennis star Maria Sharapova 23. Sasha popped the question to his girlfriend of one year at his home in Manhattan Beach, CA. He describes it as an ‘old-school proposal.’

First Lamar Odom last year, then Shannon Brown last week and now Sasha. The Lakers team have championship rings and engagement rings on lock! Who’s next?!

Ahhh. March Madness. The glorious time of year when a reported 58 million hard-working Americans follow the NCAA Basketball Tournament. You’d think that with the serious love of the game and with a phrase as heartwarming as “Sweet 16” trademarked for the sport, guys in love would also cherish the opportunity to propose in a meaningful way in front of screaming basketball fans.

What’s so sad for me (keep in mind that I’m a graduate of the university that beat Duke to win the NCAA Basketball Championship my senior year AND I’m now a loyal fan of all things engagement-related) is that I found on YouTube JUST ONE genuine marriage proposal video that took place at a college basketball game. After searching through “Rejected Proposal” and “Dude embarrassed” and “Proposal Denied” video titles, I finally found a Kiss Cam at a University of Tennessee game (not a tournament game though) where the guy kisses his girlfriend then drops to bended knee to propose on the big screen:
