Defensive back, DeShawn Shead, popped the question to his girlfriend, Jessica Martinez. How did you two meet? (In Judon’s Words)
Millie’s best friend introduced us in high school.
How did you propose?
I proposed to her in Las Vegas. Invited her out on the balcony of our room to have a drink and watch the sunset. When she turned around I was down on bended knee with the ring.
Where did you get married?
We married at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas in front of 50 guests. It was perfect.
What do you two love most about your Engagement & Wedding Rings?
I love the quality and also how bright the diamonds are. The rings got so many compliments and they are very comfortable to wear. I took one picture of the bride’s ring, which has been the most popular picture that our friends and family have asked us for. Thanks to everyone at the Torrance store for your help & well wishes!
Engagement & Wedding Rings from Robbins Brothers in Torrance, CA
Just Engaged! Sending a warm congratulations to contestants Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd who were recently engaged on CBS’ Big Brother 16. When Jeff visited the Woodland Hills store, it was such a pleasure helping him find the ring that Jordan would adore. He was so excited and even a little nervous picking it out, but our wonderful engagement ring consultants, Amy Butler and Moraima Alamillo, helped put him right at ease. It was a ring-shopping “party” as the ladies assisted Jeff with his decision on a gorgeous cushion-cut halo diamond engagement ring from the Robbins Brothers Vintage Collection.

How did you two meet? (In Daryl’s words)
In 2010, my friend Melissa (whom I dated when we were 13 years old) invited Cris and me to a 4th of July party. Cris was there on a date with another guy. That date wasn’t going well for him. After she sent him home, Cris and I started talking. One thing led to another, we exchanged numbers and we went on our first date that next weekend. Cris LOVES butterflies and roses, so our first date was to see the live Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum and the Rose Garden at the California Science Museum across the quad.
How did you propose?
Every year we go to Vegas for Cris’ birthday (June 17). For this trip we had several activities planned, including the Tournament of Kings dinner and show at Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the night we arrived (June 15). When you walk into the casino on the main floor before heading down to the theater, there is a photo concession stand where scantily clad models invite you to stand with them in playful poses. After they went through their routine, I asked if we could do one more pose. I snaked the ring out of my pocket, dropped to my knee and asked Cris to marry me. The model you see in the background of the “on my knee” photo and the photographer had no idea I was going to do this. The model’s candid reaction is obvious excitement and joy and the photographer just kept snapping shots. We were the first people anyone could remember EVER using their service to capture a wedding proposal. After she said yes and I placed the ring on her finger we went down to the theater for dinner and the show where they announced our engagement to the entire arena.
What does she love most about the engagement ring?
As you may have guessed from the description of our first date, it was no accident that the ring I chose for Cris is butterfly-theme. I spent several long weeks searching for a suitable ring before finding this one on the Robbins Brothers website. Once I found it, that was it. I knew it was the perfect ring for her. I was almost shattered when I learned that it was from the 2012 Spring Collection and no longer available in stores. When Lori Harris from the Ring Center explained that I could special order it from a manufacturing plant in China I was overjoyed despite it being Chinese New Year and there would be a bit of a delay. We love that this ring looks like a butterfly. It is a perfect choice for Cris who loves butterflies so much.
